Bill C-309, a private member's bill introduced by Conservative MP Blake Richards in 2011, passed third reading in the Senate on May 23 and was proclaimed law during a royal assent ceremony in the Senate this afternoon.

Really? Just more proof that Stephen Harper and his Conservatives are ruining Canada.

Not to mention riots in Montreal every time the Canadiens win/ lose a playoff series.
oh wow i thought canadians were always really polite all the time

oh well, the only reason to wear a mask during a riot is so you can commit crimes and get away with it, so i dont see an issue here

if you're going to do some bad stuff you wont bat an eye at breaking another law

Not only riots but "unlawful assembly" which could be anything that the police don't like, including a peaceful protest.

and i was thinking about moving to Canada if the US went to stuff.
but now im having second thoughts about the government

well yes but if i'm a cop and i see a peaceful protest i wouldn't mind

if all of a sudden they all put on masks i'd be like "OK stuffS ABOUT TO GO DOWN GO GO GO"

as long as you're doing the right thing you have no need to wear a mask

Just because you're wearing a mask doesn't mean you're all of a sudden going to raise some hell. This kind of law doesn't need to exist.

people will protest in masks protesting not being able to protest in masks

protestception

I assume this includes gas masks so the police can tear gas crowds more effectively. I hate it when some rich college, socialist cigarettes, or black boc starfishs go around and smash the windows of small shops in the name of socialism/equality/fighting evil governments.

I remember hearing about how most of the people during the London riots were looting stores and cell phone companies offered to give the police a list of phones in the area to help catch the looters. Kind of scary how technology can be used in the future to track people down. It also makes me think about those people in the UK who like to call American fat oil thiefs on youtube, who probably stole a TV during the riots.

Also During the the Larry King riots shop keepers in the China Town(the Los Angeles one) would barricade their shops and would use AR15's to fend off looters since the LAPD was busy with the riots.

unlawful assembly doesn't mean anything the police don't like
it means assembly that is unlawful
