Author Topic: [What is Gaming Life] - Youtube Shenanigans  (Read 1042 times)

Currently creating this topic on a laptop with no mouse so it'll improve once I'm back on my main computer. ANYWAYS:

What Is Gaming Life - or [WIGL] as we conveniently refer to it - is a Youtube channel shared between Dread, Rhypht and I where we upload gameplay footage and other similar things in no particular orderly or thematic fashion. At least, that's what it is currently. We started the channel not too long ago because we kept saying to ourselves "we should record the stupid stuff we do and put it on Youtube." So, after months of saying this without actually doing anything, we took the step forward and made...whatever the hell it is you see here.

Probably not the best way to present ourselves, agreed. However, we hope that by having more people actually see our videos, we can develop some sort of direction that we'd like to take the channel in, based on what people like and don't like and what everyone wants to see. Of course, as long as it still fits within our own personal style of recording and such.

Currently, we have videos of the following gameplay:
Grand Theft Auto IV
Garry's Mod
Blockland
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive
Battlefield 3
Minecraft
Phantasy Star Online 2
Sniper Elite: national socialist Zombie Army
Slender
More to come!

Not too much information to start with, but again, I don't have much with me in terms of versatility computer-wise for the next few days so once I'm back at home base I'll flesh this topic out some more to make it nicer to look at. In the meantime, in case you didn't realize the image at the top is a link to the channel:
Here you go.

Feedback is always greatly appreciated, criticism is what can help us shape this into something more interesting.
And of course I'm going to plug the obligatory: like, subscribe, tell ya friends, and whatever else Youtube does nowadays with their stuffty layouts.

Oh wow this is cool you guys sound really neat

it's hard to judge too much because you guys haven't really found a niche audience yet, but I guess some basic pointers are that in some cases it feels very slow and subdued, especially in that slender video. Also in that CSGO video it could've definitely been more interesting, instead of just saying profanities each time you die. what kind of LP'ers do you guys strive to be, if any?

I do like the intro though.

We aren't necessarily striving to be LP'ers, or anything in particular for that matter just yet. We're still trying to figure out what sort of channel we want to be, and like you said, we need to still find a niche audience in order to do this. We're well aware that in some cases the videos are slow or uninteresting, some of that has to do with the fact that it's still relatively small and still on a personal circle-of-friends level. We don't have access to very great editing software at this point in time either. Hell, the Slender video was put up completely raw aside from the titles. The feedback is appreciated though and it's going to help shape us in the long run.

The intro actually was meant to be a placeholder at the time it was made, until we came up with a better one, but we got used to the logo after a while and now it's pretty stuck there, haha.
