Author Topic: So tell me what you think about this [Police Interactions]  (Read 2204 times)

Alright this is a somewhat long story so bear with me if you want.

I was with a 5 other friends (all above 15 years old) in a neighborhood park yesterday night.  It was 11:23pm something, and a sheriff walks up, he shines his light and tells us not to run and whatever.  He gets to us and tells us "what are you guys doing, curfew is 10pm", at the time me and another friend noticed he had no cruiser with him.  He then tells us he needs our parents information and what not, so one by one we all give our information, he THEN tells us we'll be receiving a citation to appear in court in the mail.  Then he tells us all to leave.

Now for some more details, we were all extremely respectful, using sir no sir etc, and he constantly disrespected us.  That enough had me almost to the point of exploding in his face.  But I didn't because he's an authority.

He also on later views showed no sign of authority, gave no name, had no cruiser.

Now for the next day

So we all get home, tell our parents, most of them got grounded as well.  Then me and my closer friend start looking up if this was legit or not.  We then find out where we were at is Columbus jurisdiction, which means curfew is midnight for anyone under 17.  This means we were in fact not breaking the law.

So we flip stuff and start calling the sheriff's department, asking to find out what's going on who stopped us what happened etc.  They tell (Columbus Police) tell us that they have no officer under the name of what my friend read from his nametag.  We then call the neighboring counties sheriff department.  They have the same guy under the same name, so they tell me "talk to him yourself".

I get on the phone with this guy, he's the same disrespectful forget I remember, and now he's telling me he never stopped us.  He was at a drug bust in Cbrown town Winchester (where we were stopped), at 11:45.

Naturally I think "well if that was 11:45, you were done with us by 11:25, you could've easily made it there in time", but he basically calls me a liar that I never got stopped and to call his sergeant tomorrow.

This is what I take from this and what I'm going to do.

He parked his cruiser far away because he knew he was in the wrong jurisdiction, he wanted to scare us off so that we wouldn't cause problems so he told us we were breaking the law, he never reported it to his dispatcher's because we weren't in fact breaking the law.  He then get's a call from one of us and decides he's just going to lie about it so he doesn't seem like a fool.

What I'm going to do?  I'm going to gather the other 5 kids, walk into his office, and ask them who stopped us.  6 of our words is greater than one of his, and I'm not gonna let this douche bag get away with being a disrespectful forget just because we're minors.

So blf, what bad/good police encounters have you had?

was climbing my old school with friends, got caught by some police guy after this little bitch(will beat up when I meet him again) sneaked me and my friends out. the cop was nice though, just asked for our names and addresses but it doesn't look like he recorded anything.

I plan to climb the school again probably. it's a pretty nice place to chill.

Ahh, I remember when I was twelve, we were appearently breaking the law.
We witnessed someone steal a bike and someone's wallet, so we called the cops.
Cop got here, we pointed out the victim, bike got returned, all ended well.
But, this guy was handicapped. This cop was like "Reporting a minor crime like this that could be solved easily with themselves is illegal. We could've gotten a call to chase after a armed criminal." <- something amoung the lines of that.
Well anyways, I thought it was bullstuff. If they solved this problem themselves, it would've led to Domestic Violence.

I want to hear the other side of the story. For all I know your city probably has law against people being out in the park at a certain time and when the deputy came you guys were like "forget you pig".

The park was public property, meaning curfew laws applied as normal, that's the one of the first things I asked the next day.

Right...
All in all if you're mad at anyone it should be yourself for being selfish, stop blaming disorders and your parents because of things you can change.

Right...
I have respect for people with true authority, plus I was scared to stuff because my record is already horrible.

Next time a lawman stops you ask for his badge number and name also if its for the same reason tell them how old you are and carry an idea with you.

At the time I didn't think about it, obviously, and I did have my drivers license with me.  He didn't ask for ID

Why's that?
I have two previous marks on my record.

Domestic Violence + Unruly Child

&

Possession of an illegal substance
