Author Topic: So I just bought a new $60 graphics card...  (Read 2658 times)

cpu is a bit old but certainly shouldn't bottleneck blockland
ram is running a bit slow but shouldn't really make a difference either
whats your pci-e slot version/ motherboard model?

I have ATI Radeon HD 5870 v2 with 1GB GDDR5 (default clock) and it cost me 552 USD. I will go cry in a corner if a 60 USD card is going to beat this thing that cost over 50% of my computer budget. I will only accept my defeat if OPs card is a furnace and requires water cooling.
With 3g of ram, and nvidia geforce 240 I can run max with 15-20 fps, if you spent 500 dollars on a graphics card and only get 2 fps at max, you have a very big problem. It sounds like you really got ripped off

Or there's could be another bottleneck in his hardware.

The store is legit + it was a few years ago. It probably doesn't help that I have a hexacore CPU @ 2.8GHz when Blockland only uses one core.

What other info do you need? I don't think the hard drive affects the performance that much.

my mac cant run shaders on low, it just comes out to be lines..

If it was a few years ago I could see why. It might've been expensive and the most powerful at that time but then a few years after they have the next gen cards (well next gen cards come out every year?) which could be just as good but cheaper because the technology would no longer be "new". It's the same with 1TB HDDs, they existed years agao (2007 I think) but they very rare and expensive because it was "new" technology to be able to occupy that much space, but now 1TB HDDs are about $70-$80.

Yes. This is how technology works.

$60 for a Geforce 650?!? Was it a GTX650, or JUST 650?

Before seeing OP: Omg what a waste of 60 bucks.

After seeing OP: Wow that's nice for the money.
