How do I know if I'm being DDoS'd

My internet sometimes just stops working and loads for 5 mins.

It then just randomly decides it wants to quickly load the webpage

Try plugging in using a cable to see if it still happens. If it doesn't, try changing the channel of the wireless signal to a few different ones on the router incase there's interference or anything.
