Author Topic: Overgrown City  (Read 5701 times)

Hello people! I just wanted some people to see my build I've been working on recently for criticism and help as well. As a side note, I duplicated some of the buildings in the city from my other builds so I could 'fill it in' so to speak. Anyways, what do you think!

Got some 'interiors' as well. Only make what the eye can see!

After a while, I experimented with the environment for a bit. thought it'd be worth showing at least...

Please feel free to speak your minds!

i love it

the style, the layout, the detail : everything!!

theres plenty of possibilities for this build to be used in
and who doesnt like to explore a near abandoned city overrun by foliage!?

You use the same grass brick over and over it looks repeated and bland. Use default bricks on some of the windows.

Nice to see you on the forums pancho! anyways is this that old city you built? I don't remember it being like this

I'm seeing Left for Dead here

What pillow said, you used the same foliage bricks over and over and it looks pretty bad. The buildings are alright though.

It looks awesome.
By any chance, are you gonna host a server with this?

you could have done better with the roads
anyway, nice job

Thanks for the feedback! I really appreciate it! And my server's usually a freebuild, so sometimes this might be up... But for roads, do you mean hand build them...?

I like the layout and style. I really enjoy how some of the buildings are falling apart.

Id like to see more partially destroyed buildings/walls. Also, take note that when putting a hole in a wall/building that there would be a pile of rubble from the wall/building either inside or outside. Rubble doesn't go away, it falls and stays where it lands unless somebody is moving things around. Add more rubble and condense existing rubble as it seems to be unnaturally spaced everywhere.

I also dont agree with the use of the vine bricks and grass bricks. They look good in moderation, but when used in all possible areas it tends to look repetitive. I recommend you mix the style of built plants and those bricks.

I'm assuming that those are papers you placed around on the roads. Now, they wouldn't fall like that especially if they've been sitting around for a while. The wind would blow them around and they would gather in various places: against walls, on fences, forming piles in the street with the rubble. Not evenly spaced around.

The last picture where you flooded the city is neat but it's missing something. Floating debris: something I haven't considered until I saw this build and something I think could be pulled off well. The papers in the street would float, random trash would float, basically just pollute the water. This could be nicely done with random bricks at water height. And if you do that, I suggest you make them non colliding. You cant walk on floating garbage...

HEEHEEEHEE :)

It looks really nice, I don't like however, that you used the same plant brick, Try experimenting a little. I see this turning into a really beautiful build.

nice city. doesnt look overgrown at all, just looks like someone forgot to weed. try doing this

Reminds me of The Last Of Us, nice build.

Hm, good point. Should I just hand build my own 'plant' bricks in different variations, and then dupe them everywhere? Oh, and to make it SUPER overgrown like in the picture... paint some bricks green maybe?

Thanks for all the feedback folks!
