Lost 50% of battery overnight while my phone was in sleep mode?

I left my phone out with 90% charge in it and woke up to 40%. This has never happened before and I can't think of anything that could have caused this besides a bad battery. Are the processes overnight running my battery low or is it something else?

Actually before ios 6.1.3 it was fine. My iPad would last days. Now it dies every night if I don't have the charging cable plugged in (luckily I can plug it right behind my bed)

Yes, updates can cause your battery to drain faster.

My phone used to run Stock 4.0 Android.
Battery would drain in half a day.
Got a Custom 4.1 ROM and it now lasts day and a half.
