Just draw a border with a 1 PX pencil tool and don't label it.  You are free to select any reasonably-sized piece of land.

You don't need a 2D map.  Besides, it would look weird and just mean more work.

Do what you want.  I'll check it for you to see if it's reasonable.  Anything that isn't claimed and is land is open.  If you want to live on the polar caps as an Eskimo nation, then that's fine by me.
