Author Topic: My PC has been rendered useless...  (Read 1032 times)

My friend installed "oovoo" on it from some random site he found. It installed like 5 browser hijackers (which i deleted quickly) and now it takes like 5 minuted for google chrome to open. Does anyone have any idea what happened?

ooVoo is a legit video chat program.
However, it sounds like he probably used a rogue/fake/infected installer for it rather than going to the official website.
Run a quick scan with Malwarebytes, and if that doesn't catch anything, go for the full scan.

ooVoo is the bargain brand Skype

Try restarting your computer

back up personal stuff, reinstall windows, tell your friend to jump off a cliff
easiest solution

I wanted to make sure I got the right site and not something that tries to look like it.

even if you get bogus results, learn how to read so you don't click on them
