I have to get mine out in August...Do they keep you awake for the whole thing?

It depends. From what I've read, you're given the option of a local anesthesia that lets you stay awake during the operation (with no pain/sensation in the mouth, obviously), or you're given the option of some sort of general anesthesia with nitrous oxide.

I'm pretty sure you can just ask the doctor about which one you want, and if they have the faculties for general anesthesia they'll probably do that anyway. However, if you have a heart condition like a prolapsed valve or atrial fibrillation, they might require you to take the local because of possible complications from anesthesia.

wow big mouth.

Lucky, lol. Even if your mouth can fit it, sometimes dentists advise wisdom tooth extraction anyway because it's hard to brush that far back in your mouth and wisdom teeth are highly prone to cavities and infection.

Did you have all 4 removed, or just 2?

It's not uncommon for some to be fine and others to be a nuisance.
And were they taken out solely because of the angle they were coming in, or were they giving any pain or discomfort to begin with?

I've got my top two Wisdom Teeth coming in, and they have been very very slowly moving in for the last year.
They're hardly out at the moment.
But they're entirely comfortable, are back beyond my last molar, and at the moment happen to protrude every so slightly to the side of the gum.

I've got no sign of my bottom two, but that's because the gum line follows the jaw-line and doesn't really leave an open space.
So, I'm sort of anticipating that to be quite an uncomfortable break out.

But, then again, even with my terrible dental care, I normally have quite happy teeth.
No cavities or root problems.
