How do you get a name change?

There is a feature in SMF that allows users to change their own name when they please. It used to be in the forums a long time ago (2006/2007) but it was removed, idk why.

Probably because it was abused, like Editing in Drama.

Because then people would just change their names willy nilly and it would be hard to keep track of people.

It would be cool though if you could submit a name change request and then all Badspot had to do was approve it. The forums would also keep track of your past names and put them somewhere on your profile for reference.

I know how frustrated the OP must be right now. I wish I could have picked a better username than this, I really do hate it. Originally, it was supposed to just be "Panic," but since that name was taken, I came up with the brilliant idea to stick "The" in front of it. My mistake. I PM'd Badspot about a month ago, asking nicely for him to change it, but he never responded in any way, so now I don't know whether to try and PM him again, email him, or give up. The name that I had requested to replace my existing username was completely different from what I have now, but I've heard of other people having their names changed to completely different ones too, so I don't know if that actually matters or not.
