Author Topic: The Complete Guide to A Blockland Hacking Clique  (Read 30219 times)

As for disassembling DSO's, "Tarek701" attempted to have done this already.

That topic was posted a year ago in may 2012, where he was talking about, that he successfuly disassembled a Blockland DSO file:

A cs.dso file, is a compiled TorqueScript(cs = C Sharp, but not really.), which prevents me to access the main scripts of Blockland. Well, because there are no compilers, i did wrote a DSO Disassembler, which helps me alot more to understand how Blockland actually work.

The images in his cheat engine topic are simply that of opening the mission editor back when it was still possible without hosting a server.

also to anyone who thinks blockland is somehow going to be ruined, this is definitely not the case every game sooner or later gets hacked and pirated, Blockland took a lonnngg time probably longer than most games, and even though games are pirated that doesn't mean everyone will go and illegally download them, most of the games for pc only take 24-48 hours to be uploaded to illegal downloading sites but that doesn't stop the majority of people who
a. don't know how to illegally download something (large percentage)
b. people who are honest/scared and wouldn't do something like that

pirating is something that you can't combat, because every time you release a new update to fix it, they always find a way, and the only thing your really doing is making the game harder to use for the people who honestly bought it

Except that you still can't effectively pirate Blockland because the pirates would need to use a custom authentication server. If the pirate community every grew to a decent size then it would be easy to obtain the information of this server and then contact the proper authorities to shut it down.

Siba, you have no idea what you're talking about. Blockland hackers are 0% danger to Blockland. It is not and has never been a goal for them to damage blockland. The research into authentication is 100% theoretical and done out of interest not out of desire to create a secondary auth server. The post is outdated and all the information has been gathered required to create a secondary (read: free) auth server but guess what? It was never made. DSO Decompilation would help scripters learn how Blockland works so that it would be easier to create more powerful and efficient add-ons. The C++ research allows people to quite literally write Blockland mods in C++, meaning they will run on the order of a thousand times faster than Torque code. BLHack.dll is Computermix's project, and as he described himself he is responsible for it almost 100%. Dotdotcircle had only a little involvement in making the launcher. It was done mostly out of research and Computermix's interest. The rest of the Blockland Reversing Project had no malintent whatsoever. The goal of the project is to discover as much as possible about how Blockland works and benefit the add-on creating community by adding novel ways to write add-ons and by teaching more advanced scripters how to get the most out of Blockland. The only reason this research has been kept secret is to prevent actual malicious people from accessing it. The research is dirty and complicated, it was our goal to create clean tools for people to use so they don't have to interact directly with potentially dangerous code. Paint me a hacker, but don't ever say that I'm detrimental to the Blockland community.

Forum hijackings, random acts of doxing users, dll hacks injected into Blockland that give a user special permissions that Badspot could not prevent up until now, and you monitoring steam chats illegally.

Yeah, I totally believe you when you say the talk of the authentication server was purely speculation, want to explain why you'd need to know how key.dat stores the key as well?

Look, I don't mind a user's persistent actions if he can show he clearly isn't an starfish and really is all for opening up the add-on system of a game to a wider array of people, but there is no doubt in my mind that making Blockland free would be one of your goals.

In my eyes, you are a threat to even Blockland's existence, and if not you, the other users in your group. This may not be true; I don't know, but I am judging you based on my experience with you and the forum discussions.

I wasn't going to bring this into the drama, but I figured it would help explain why I believe they are a threat.

tri probably just shut the forum down and wrote a quick splash page up as ipquarx
This. They're just trying to troll me.

p funny lol
Indeed, which is why I made the local copy just to be safe ;)

I hope there's a way to detect it, not really /block it/ but just be able to detect it so we can make autoban features and stuff for using it on our servers.

who's trinick

a big cunt

Wow, these guys to a terrible job of staying undercover.

The hack is impossible to detect on the server. The client is a different story but just remember we have control of it so there is really nothing you can do.

Ahh it reminds me of VAC

except ban the user who is obviously using it recklessly by not even trying to cover it up

Oh yeah, I meant autodetecting it

It's impossible to find out whether they are lagging or using the hack, unless they tell you about it like an idiot

someone who is floating in mid-air is probably hacking. the best thing to do is to just kick them.
