Author Topic: Tons of random Microsoft programs?  (Read 815 times)

For some reason I have a lot of programs installed from Microsoft.  Not the default ones, but weird ones like SQL Database Servers and multiple Visual C++ packs.  I do have many IDE's installed that use C++ (and occasionally SQL Databases) but I don't believe I should have this many?  Does anyone know why I have so many of these installed?

welcome to windows
ill be your guide

its completely normal
its like directx with games

some things like that are needed for certain programs to run

Well yes, although why does it require three copies of Visual C++ 2005, when they are the same thing?

either marginal differences or some sloppy installation by user/setup/etc.

notice how the 2008 redistributable has two installations of different versions

I would imagine that certain larger programs (that are well known) such as Maya would have checked well first before installing another.  Although you might be correct, they could be slightly different from each other and just have the same name.

not sloppy installation. they install themsleves as a different progrum if versions is different.

but you can just uninstall the old versions, that what i did and look at me im making billions

Uninstalling old versions isn't a very good idea as the reason they always install their version is because they're using a certain version with might have differences from others.

not for me bruh

Well, when I installed Visual Studio, a stuffload of programs appeared in my list as well.

64 and 32 bit distros, backups, extra runtimes, etc.
they take up like -2kb anyway so whatever

just don't forget with anything or else your everything will break

but seriously, it seems like a trend on older computers with seeing loads of windows programs like these, i'd suggest to just leave it alone.
