Author Topic: I was put in an "advanced computer" class  (Read 2614 times)

And I know nothing about PCs ;( it's my major, too. Any tips ?

(It's an 8th grade class)

major > 8th grade?
why are you talking a computer class if you dont know anything about them?

It's my home room, also I was put in it, without choice.

Because a computer class that isn't advanced will likely teach you how to open a folder

wow u kno more about macs then the avrage gurl!!!

I don't know much about macs either.

These classes are horsestuff. They treat you like you're too handicapped to use a computer normally.

You'll do fine.

dont worry, computer classes in both elementary (and high) school are just learning how to use things like word and powerpoint.

this, lol

In "Advanced Computer Science II" I was doing excel spreadsheets. It's ridiculously easy. I've done harder things setting up wrench events in blockland.

I can use Word more efficiently than my Writing teacher, same with PowerPoint. I've also made a spreadsheet for paper orders of a fictitious paper company in Excel.

IIRC 8th graders don't exactly have a major

whatchu tawlkin 'bout

the reality of what the majority of people consider "computer savvy" is just ridiculous and embarrassing.

I bet op knows more about PCs and PC apps then most the kids and teachers at his school.

"CDs are just a phase, floppy disks will soon make a comeback!" - a very wise computer teacher

have fun dealing with teachers like this.

The computer classes in Middle/Elementary school are so basic that they can be disappointing. I found myself doing HTML and Javascipt during my "free time" (other kids would sit aroud playing games). I wouldn't consider myself "tech saavy" or anything, but I still know more than all the kids in my school.

sounds like i'd be happy in that class but idk what they tell you in there
