Can't you do that in the desktop properties?

Try Doomonkey's thing

As you can see, the translucency on the windows are fine but the translucency on the taskbar is forgeted up

I googled it but I couldn't find a single way to disable it. helphalp

He wants to disable transparency, You should really read the topic.
He got the traparency disabled on windows but not his taskbar. All you ended up doing is saying "Your window isn't transparent."
Which is just pointing out the obvious.

Why would someone want to disable transparency! That's nonsense!

It's not nonsense, He wants his windows to match with the theme of his desktop I'm guessing.
That and it's his computer, He could disable it if he wants to its just that he doesn't know how to. I don't have
Windows 8 so I can't really help him. If I did I probably would though.

C:\Users\<you>\AppData(HiddenFolder)\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Themes

Find your theme and edit it with notepad
In the [VisualStyles] section find Path=Blah blah blah\Aero\Aero.msstyles
Change Aero.msstyles to AeroLite.msstyles

Save the file and then doubleclick on your .theme file to apply it.
Beware, this will change some other aspects of the theme.

Just try it.

Bump because I didn't see this post at first. I did that and it also did not work.

What the flying stuff did your wallpaper come from

And also who bumped this >:U why did you bump this

I made my wallpaper myself, and I bumped it because I still can't figure out how to disable translucency.

You must not have done it right, it does work. Make sure you do Lite instead of Light, and make sure you change the theme you are using.

It doesn't work for me. I made sure it was Lite, I changed the theme, etc.
