Author Topic: How do you disable translucency on Windows 8?  (Read 2671 times)

As you can see, the translucency on the windows are fine but the translucency on the taskbar is forgeted up

I googled it but I couldn't find a single way to disable it. helphalp

What do you mean, like make it transparent?

No. I want to disable translucency.

Try looking in the personalization settings, and wherever you choose your colors, get a custom color with full "intensity" or whatever it's called.

I tried that. It's still pretty translucent.

Damnit I found this once

It's just the way it is, same here.
I don't really care.

You could try getting an alternate W8 theme from DA or something.

a. What are some good ones?
b. How do I install them?

a. Windows 7 theme
b. There should be a readme/read the description

Make the bottom of your desktop (where the taskbar is) white.  That's the super cheap way to do it. (though it doesn't really matter.)

C:\Users\<you>\AppData(HiddenFolder)\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Themes

Find your theme and edit it with notepad
In the [VisualStyles] section find Path=Blah blah blah\Aero\Aero.msstyles
Change Aero.msstyles to AeroLite.msstyles

Save the file and then doubleclick on your .theme file to apply it.
Beware, this will change some other aspects of the theme.
