"ATLAS was developed for DARPA by Boston Dynamics. Software-focused teams from Tracks B and C of the DARPA Robotics Challenge will use the robot to compete in the first physical competition of the Challenge in December 2013 at the Homestead-Miami Speedway."

And no, before you start commenting about Skynet, this thing is entirely remotely operated.

That actually scares me knowing that robots can really do these things.

now we just need a portal gun

 :cookieMonster:

I came expecting giant robots with deadly lasers and missiles.

Why do people keep wasting funds to develop these useless human-like-looking robots instead of creaing robots that are actually useful for something.

also, anyone remember when boston dynamics created a dog/headcrab breed called "Big Dog"?

It's in steps. You can't just immediately develop stuff to help people before researching and developing less useful robots. You build off what you got. Cus like we'll get "I Am Robot" helpers soon.

Officially, the ATLAS robot does have a use, specifically for a lot of rescue operations.

Unofficially...

They should have named the LittleDog the CrimsonChameleon.

Getting a robot to walk independently upright has been a problem for a while now. You can't really be this stupid to NOT imagine the applications for this. It's not a waste of funds its funds going into scientific research for something that has a potential use in the future.

You're handicapped.

It's taken me this long to notice, too :/
