Author Topic: Is iMac a good choice?  (Read 1836 times)

Hey, guys.

I made a similar topic like this before about MacBook Pro with retina display. I am pretty sure you will remember it.

I have came to a conclusion that I need a desktop that is not a Windows PC. So, I decided on iMac. Yes, call me an Apple cigarette or whatever, but my school requires their students to buy Macs only.

So, all I want is just some feedback and opinions on it.

Thanks.

'Retina Display' is literally just a buzzword for a monitor. If you don't want to spend $700+ more than you have to, then don't buy a Mac lol.

In this scenario, I would build a hackintosh.

Hackintosh?

isnt imac really old? like, really old?

my school requires their students to buy Macs only.
is there any reason for this?

I don't know why they would ever force you to do this, but if they really are that controlling for a ridiculous reason you should probably build your own well-performing computer with better hardware than Apple can provide you and make it a hackintosh.

Newer versions came out.

But the retina display is actually really good. It's like doubling the resolution but not the screen size. Everything gets super crisp and sharp. I don't have an apple computer but I have the iPhone 4 and I love how clear and clean everything looks.

A windows computer you install the Mac OSX I think. I personly love imacs. I still have one that I've had since about 2007. It acctully ran L4D2 at low and Portal2 at low. It runs slower now but it isn't that bad. I love the mac operating system. It is very nice.

um why not go to an actual good school that isnt handicapped and makes you buy macs

or if that isnt an option build a hackintosh if you keep wanting to go to a handicapped school

is there any reason for this?

I think its because of the programs we need for school are Mac-only (?)

Nobody knows for sure, lol.

Hah, yeah, sounds great.
But really, I have a Mac Mini from 2011 with a 16GB RAM upgrade for $100 and it runs both games on medium/high graphics at 40-50 fps.

Nice. I was surprised that I could even run Portal2 and L4D2 on it with no lag. It was awesome. I have a Windows laptop now.
