Author Topic: Great, Canada wants to filter out research too.  (Read 2822 times)

Next thing you know they filter out the Blockland forums because I called the MP a richardweed.

its a non issue. adult account holders have no problem with this. because they can make a 2 min phone call to undo it.

im not usually one to support underage oppression. im all about drinking and research at 14yo.
but come on now. shut up guys lol. if you have an issue, then you are a kid in the household. deal with it.

You're 14? And Ok :(

I just hope they don't go crazy and filter out the whole internet.

im not 14. im 29. thats why its so ridiculous to care about this happening in any country.
its no different then checking for IDs when selling cigarettes, or rated r movies not admitting anyone younger then 17.

making that phone call to the isp is like the age check.
its not even censorship.

Filtering out research is probably a good thing, shake those addictions for people like me lol.

5 minutes after restriction goes live

hey america is starting to look good by comparison

Once they have the ability to filter research it's a lot easier to filter anything they want to. It's a lot easier to pass censorship laws if you say "Think of the children!!" first.

And a pretty easy one to fake at that.
I don't know about other ISPs, but all it takes to change settings for my comcast account is the account holder's name, phone number, address and the last 4 digits of the social security number.
Not having a squeaky child voice or any other things that make it obvious you're not who you say you are helps too.

This is what I'm trying to say. Screw research, it's the filtering idea that's the issue.

parents must be having a hard time keeping their kids away from research
