Author Topic: I think I just forgeted over my desktop entirely  (Read 2016 times)

Here's what happened:

My friend and I were gonna dual boot mac on my desktop, and when it was partitioning (it rebooted and showed that it was formatting the partition or something) I accidentally kicked the power cable and it pulled out of the wall, and then when I booted my computer up again, Windows went into recovery mode and said it couldn't boot from the drive anymore, and just now I tried using a Windows 7 disc to boot from and it said there was no OS found to boot from (when I tried booting from disc) and now I'm loving clueless. Does anyone here know what I can do maybe? ;-;

How did you burn windows to an iso, because you should probibly use the one off the website for the usb, when I tried doing it before without it, it said no drives found. If I were you try going into the bios and setting the boot priority for the usb to be first and then try it

Don't pull power cables out of walls.

Your drive is probably forgeted. That is pretty much the worst possible time to cut power to a computer.

This.
If hes right, you might need a new HDD

forget. I really hope the drive is still recoverable, the BIOS still detects it. I don't get why it doesn't detect the disc though

I don't think it would be forgeted since you didn't format your entire disk, or did you?

i have had that problem
i got a windows XP disc, and then installed it and then upgraded back to windows 7
but if that does not work, you're forgeted

I think it should be. Try this to recover your stuff: http://www.knopper.net/knoppix/index-en.html

make sure if elecro tries to help don't call him handicapped. anyways,

Microsoft doesn't want to help you.
Literally.
I went to a best buy for a tech person and he told me I couldn't buy windows vista recovery discs and that I needed to "buy the new windows 8".
Mine didn't crash or anything, I just wanted to switch back from linux.

I can't get it to boot from any disc, or USB. I'm putting Debian on a flash drive real quick and going to try booting from that

I didn't format anything, I just partitioned off 100gb and it lost power in the middle of partitioning.

As long as you bios is still intact, it should boot off of USB just fine, provided you flashed it correctly.

Ian just get over to my house and we can format your drive and set up windows 7 on it
