Author Topic: slim chance of getting into the Military. :(  (Read 1508 times)

So soon Ill be heading down to a recruiter to talk to him about joining the Air Force. I'd like to do Engineering but required high school classes have to be in computer operations and software application. Seeing as I have zero so far is a bad thing. I have my senior year left and I would really need to find these classes. What classes would be considered to have to do with computer operations, and software application?

Found out I have such a small chance of actually making it.  :panda:

Lots of math.
Yes

Here is the little bit from the article

"Knowledge. Knowledge is mandatory of computer operations, software applications, and mathematics; including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.

Education. For entry into this specialty, completion of high school or general educational development equivalency, with courses in algebra, geometry, trigonometry, computer operations, and software application is mandatory. Completion of high school courses in drafting, physics, and chemistry is desirable."

Have taken Algebra 1, Algebra 2x, Geometry and Chemistry. Taking Physics and Trigonometry(Pre-calc) this coming year. I'm lacking in the computer area and I'm not very good at "computer operations and software application". So I should probably take some classes.

Should I try to get into a possible intro to CAD or something?

There's your answer for what classes to take. But what is software application? Is that like a software engineer?

Thats the question. Your guess is as good as mine.

If it is then there's no point in taking intro to CAD, you'll be making the software yourself, not playing in an already existing one.

Well it still would be good

"Skilled in conventional and computer-aided drafting (CAD), including applied engineering graphics; architectural, structural, and roadway drawings; materials estimating; and map overlays"

Then take the intro.

Another teacher offers a "Careers in computers" class and Im not sure if thats something that would be good to try and take

Bump it also says

Completion of the Engineering Apprentice course satisfies the remainder of the knowledge requirement

Wondering if that waives the computer knowledge requirements as long as you the and pass this course

And I just found out that I have about a 1% chance of actually getting into the military.  :panda:

atleast it's not a 0%

a 1% is like "hey you might just be picked because you have a chance"
a 0% is like "you're forgeted there's no way you're getting in"

Tell bones I said hi.

lol, I could have told you that. You have to be the best of the best to be in the United States Air Force.

But I really dont know, Im just basing this of articles I've read.

Basically, I had (have?) eczema when I was little. Last time i had it bad was about 6 or 7 years old. I had it about a year ago. When I got it a year ago I didnt know what it was, even my mom didnt know. We went to the doctors and turns out it was eczema. It was so long ago that I didnt even know haha. Anyways, the military with DQ (Disqualify) you from entering because of eczema. (As long as its on your medical record after your 9th birthday, which it is) I literally never get eczema. Not from wearing wet clothes for a really long time, not from irritation, not from chemicals or anything.

Anyways the military (all branches) almost never let someone in with eczema. Not because of the rash, itchyness and stuff but because of the way it reacts to the smallpox vaccine which, when given to a person with eczema, can cause some infection that can actually lead to death.  :panda:

What

Its medical condition why I cant get in. Not because of the knowledge requirements or physical standards which Im sure I could pass.
