Author Topic: Because I can't spend money online...  (Read 4591 times)

Basically, I am offering my services to someone who will gift me Gmod on Steam. Now before you spout off and say I should just buy it myself, look at the title. And I have my own, personal situations that bring about this limitation. I had someone offer to buy it for me for my birthday, but I haven't heard from him since then; thus, I am a bit disappointed, as I was just getting my hopes up about getting this game. Anyway... Here's what I'm offering:

- Some kinds of art
- Some kinds of music
- Anything that could be created digitally, within reason and by ability to create it. Just ask.

Disclaimer: Just because I'm asking doesn't make you obligated to partake in this deal, so don't bother making a post implying that I'm taking advantage of anyone in any way.

Obligatory:

Get a job
Use your mom's credit card
Mow some lawns

So you're offering your ART or MUSICAL talent in exchange for 10 bucks basically?

I guess I'm just gonna have to say it so people won't keep asking/saying this. It's not that I don't have the money; my parents just don't want me to spend money on video games. In fact, they don't even know I have Steam; they don't even know what Steam is. So, no matter how much money I have, I still can't buy it. It's a very... special situation.

Solution:

Go to your local market IE: Safeway, 7 Eleven, Target, or Walmart
Buy a debit card gift card. (Visa, MasterCard, Etc)

Use this debit card to buy garrysmod.

I used to do that when before I had a job or anything or a bank account.
You're 17 dude, you should be trying to get your own life set up anyways. Get a bank account.

While I agree with everything you're saying, it's (unfortunately) not that simple in my household. If I did that, I'd be asked why I bought a gift card, and if not that, what I'd buy with it. If I said a game, they wouldn't like that, and if I said I was going to buy a physical item, then of course they'd expect me to have it sometime in the near future. I'm sure there's a work around if I spent long enough searching for one, but this is my solution at the moment. It sucks, I know, but to be honest, they don't even know I'm on the BL forums; I'd probably be grounded from videogames and the Internet until I turn 18, if they ever found out.

grow some balls and man up and buy a debit/credit gift card thing and dont tell them.

How? I can't just leave and go buy something without being questioned, I can't drive yet, and I almost never go to the store unless I'm with my parent(s) anyway. Trust me, I'd love to just buy a gift card. But it just isn't as simple as you're making it sound. My mom gets mad at me when I'm on the computer for more than two hours a day, for crying out loud. I don't even get to watch tv, so I have to do it on my iPod in bed at night. This "simple task" really isn't as simple as you seem to think. What's the point of buying a gift card in the first place if I get grounded from videogames?

Yes, because at the age of 16 everyone is magically given a car and is certified to drive it. I'm just going to go and assume that Bluetooth has a better idea of where he stands than say, you. That was rude.

Saying you cannot drive yet implies that you cannot get a driver's license.

Correct. I cannot get a drivers license because I haven't completed the required number of permit (supervised) driving hours yet. I haven't even done the basic parking lot training session yet. So no, I cannot drive.

there is no age limit to buying a prepaid visa from walmart. though you couldnt use it with paypal. so it would have to be done on an online store that accepts straight up visa.

you live in a loving totalitarianism family dude.

Stand up, dude. If you're 17, they shouldn't be controlling your life like this.

I feel you

My dad doesn't aprove of it either

he wouldn't let me guy the valve complete pack on sale because "you aren't gonna play all of those games"
