Author Topic: The Blockland Forums Community Tips on How to Not Get Flamed  (Read 6811 times)

So the BLF already has 11 rules set by Badspot: http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=2856.0
Breaking these rules will result in your post or topic being edited or deleted, or may get the user banned for any amount of time, ranging from a few days to permanently. (Edited by Night Fox)

However, there are rules that DO NOT violate the Forum Rules, but are considered dishonorable. So I decided to create the community-created rules that list the actions that are highly discouraged on the forums (which won't necessarily get the users banned since they're not Badspots rules)

The Blockland Forums Community Tips on How to Not Get Flamed (Title suggested by Count)

1. Do not overuse emotes. The emotes below are ordered from the worst to least worst when they are spammed.
  • :cookieMonster:
  • :cookie:
  • :iceCream:
  • :panda:
  • :nes:

2. Do not make the font excessively big.

3. Do not ask where you can get aimbot/hack.

4. Do not bump old posts.
  • This rule does not apply if it was a legitimate question that was accidentally pushed to the next page by an overflow of other posts. (Suggested by Alyx Vance)
  • This rule does apply if it was a stupid drama thread or a clan that nobody signed up. If it was ignored, it wasn't interesting.

5. Do not leetspeak/handicaptype unless it is necessary.
  • If you are not sure if it's necessary, it probably isn't.

6. Be careful when mentioning other block-based games.
  • Do not claim that Blockland is a ripoff of Minecraft/Roblox.
  • Everybody is entitled to their own opinions. Do not, however, praise Roblox over Blockland with the sole purpose of making the community bad.

7. Do not be discriminatory towards a user because of his/her ID (Suggested by King of the Bill)
  • Feel free to expect noobishness from the new users.
  • When a new user breaks your expectations and bests you, do not just cling stubbornly to a blanket argument.
  • Do not refer to ID discrimination as ID racism (Suggested by Kalphiter)

8. Do not make exact copies of other threads. (Suggested by Cassord)
  • This does not apply to threads that are too old to post in. (Suggested by dargereldren)

If you have any suggestions, post it!

If it's a rule: Post the rule you want to be added. Make sure to put a link to a Precedent.
If you want to edit the existing rules: Tell me what's wrong with proper reasons. I will fix it.

These rules are here not just to prevent any future trolls, but also to warn the new forumers about the generally accepted rules among the forumers that are not on the original rules list. With this, they do not need to have their reputation destroyed on their first day on the forums.

This seems really bias

This seems really bias
Would you mind explaining? After all, breaking these rules won't get people banned, but it will destroy their reputation.

6. Try not to mention/praise other block-based games over Blockland. Including, but not limited to:
  • Stating that Blockland is a ripoff of Minecraft/Roblox
  • Stating that Blockland is not as successful as Minecraft/Roblox
  • Praising Roblox in general
This part is not needed. People can have opinions. If someone's flaming people for that, they're the ones being idiots.

Most of these are just common sence, if users cant use that, they wont have a good reputation around here.

4. Do not bump your own post that was ignored. If it was ignored, it wasn't interesting.

Some people have legitimate questions they need answered and sometimes you have to bump the question because it was passed over on accident.

This rule is flawed.

Also, it's hard to simply state Minecraft as being more successful.
Sure, it has a much larger userbase, but some would say that Blockland is equally successful for it has lived for far longer.

Thanks, I deleted the
  • Stating that Blockland is not as successful as Minecraft/Roblox
  • Praising Roblox in general
since they are opinions as you said. The first one is not an opinion, but a blatant untruth.

You can argue the same for Badspot's rules. And looking at the recent Drama threads with you and Purplemetro, you don't seem the have the best common sense either.

This rule is flawed.
Thanks for the suggestion, but the rule itself is not completely flawed. Your part of the argument was added as an extension.

who is op an alt of?
I wanna know this too

under what circumstance does someone with a register date of ~5 months get to set the community rules?

who is op an alt of?
Someone who didn't follow community rules.

The Community Rules lol

1. Do not overuse emotes. The emotes below are ordered from the worst to least worst when they are spammed. This should be considered spamming the forums in general, but won't be strict because every new person does this atleast once or twice.

2. Do not make the font excessively big. This is probably already an unlisted rule, since I've seen a couple of people get banned for this.

3. Do not ask where you can get aimbot/hack. Or ask when terrains or interiors will return.

4. Do not bump your own post that was ignored. If it was ignored, it wasn't interesting. Read Alyx Vance's post about this.

5. Do not leetspeak/handicaptype unless it is necessary. Should be considered spamming in general imo.
  • If you are not sure if it's necessary, it probably isn't.

6. Try not to mention/praise other block-based games over Blockland. Including, but not limited to: Another example of why opinions are never a surefire usage on the internet. Let me break this down further:

  • Stating that Blockland is a ripoff of Minecraft/Roblox
This, and while Roblox started production very close to ROBLOX, stuff like this get's annoying when people don't know what Wikipedia is.
  • Stating that Blockland is not as successful as Minecraft/Roblox
Braggarts being braggarts. I'd just ignore them, if I was you.
  • Praising Roblox in general
Everything has a good thing in it and a bad thing. ROBLOX is not entirely bad. You're stuffting on ROBLOX
[/list]

7. Do not bump old posts that are not old enough yet to disable bumping. You've kind of worded this up weird. Do you mean not to bump old topics?

Thanks for the suggestion, but the rule itself is not completely flawed. Your part of the argument was added as an extension.
It pretty much is because people like to get their point noticed.
There are a few cases that make this rule flawed.

who is op an alt of?
This is a good question.
