Author Topic: I got drunk for the first time a couple days ago.  (Read 11193 times)

must have been some small shots because 9 shots will forget up a senior in college

unless you had 9 in like 3 hours or something

Nah, it was in a span of like 3-4 hours, lol. If I did it all at once, I would have loving died or something because I didn't know how my body would react.

Probably in a similar way to my experience; blacking out and throwing up.

I've actually done that before.
Once though.

I believe most people fake being idiots and pretend to forget crap when they're drunk because of the stereotype.

I drink about once a week. A max of two drinks because I drive. Once every 6 months or if someone's footing the bill, I will tend to binge drink about 9 or so hard drinks in the span of an hour or two. I get a good buzz but nothing debilitating. I remember everything that goes on with clarity. And honestly nothing big or stupid happens, I just get giggly.

(sadly) you don't forget afterwords. Unless you're a super light weight.

That's almost exactly what happened with me. I as able to maintain my common sense but I was a laughing idiot for about three hours and everything that was normally pretty boring seemed delightful. Everything was much funnier than it should have been. Made it hard to walk which made me laugh at myself and I felt like I was slipping in and out of a dream. Overall, it was a fantastic experience but that was probably terrible for my brain.

Beer before liquor, never sicker
Liquor before beer, you're in the clear.

Once again, alcohol is not bad for your brain, contrary to popular belief. It can actually stimulate cognitive abilities and prolong your brain's (fully) functional life by a bit.

While this fellow is correct, I'd also like to point out that ethanol (drinking alcohol) is slightly neurotoxic. It's so negligible though that the only reference to it on Wikipedia is if you scroll to the bottom of the page, you can see it's listed under Neurotoxins as a "Neurotoxic Drug."

EDIT: Found it on Wikipedia! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neurotoxin#Ethanol

I just don't like the smell of it, and I've heard that most alcohol tastes bad as well (with the exception of Wine.)

Also, while I enjoy goofing off with friends, I want to still be perfectly mentally capable and aware of what I'm doing and what's going on. I hear too often about accidents and people doing things they wouldn't normally because they were incoherent due to drunkenness.

And for those of you who say that you feel perfectly aware while drunk, try doing some puzzles or something. I doubt you'd do too well on them
It mayfeel like you still have your common sense, but that doesn't mean you do. Although I could be wrong since I'm no expert on being drunk, hehe

From what I've seen of drunks, this is correct.

@whoever mentioned it was being all giggly and easily amused:
You can get the same results by staying up too late lol
At least I can.

...forget, I guess "Drunk on insomnia" is more than just a metaphor. I should go get some sleep.

Alcohol is an acquired taste. To enjoy it, you must drink it first. As far as cognitive deficiency goes, it lasts about two hours. Never drink in a situation where you believe you may need full use of your brain within two hours. Mistakes due to intoxication generally occur because of the people indulging making poor choices; while alcohol increases your susceptibility to this, it does not make the final decision. Also; sobriety isn't a switch that you turn off with the indulgence of a drug. It's perfectly possible for a person to enjoy a low dose of alcohol over an extended period of time, keeping that person well within the bounds of comprehension (and below the legal driving limit). This is generally called a buzz and it's still pleasant, there's no need to get 'hammered' every time you're offered alcohol.

Sleep deprivation is much worse for you than ethanol. You're crazy.

Assuming small quantities thereof, yes it is. I just have insomnia so bad. I'm not recommending sleep deprivation, just observing the similar visible symptoms.
