So my 16GB SD card dun got goof'd and got its capacity reduced into a whopping 2.87GB.

Anybody know how to fix this?

Right click the SD card in the my computer window and reformat it.

Right click the SD card in the my computer window and reformat it.

Keep in mind that doing so will erase all the current data on the card.

Doesn't matter, worked like a curse.

Reduced it even further to 2.56GB ;-;

What the hell, SanDisk.

Is it unlocked (the little slide switch on the side)?

SD cards don't have that switchy thing :I

WTH type of SD card do you have?!

See, slide, right on the left?

The tiny kind.
The one you put inside phones.
Sorry, I should've clarified, it's the microSD kind.

Update: Formatted again, now my phone says the card is damaged. Asks me to reformat on my phone. If I say yes, it just brings me back to square two with 2.56GB of space.

Do note this was bought last year and was working perfectly fine until a few days ago, when it decided to delete my everything. It was only now that I noticed that much of it's space was missing.

Mine do.

Also, try using this;

https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/

Please try that. people are saying it works on the SD forums.

Although, if it's truly damaged, nothing can be done, and you'll have to get a new card. Sorry 'bout that.

Still at square two.

How long is their lifespan, in general?
I can afford one now, I'm just not too keen on spending money without being all too sure.

SD cards could theoretically last hundreds of years and be fine. However, it sounds like something simply got messed up with yours. Personally, I've never had an SD stop working.

Welp.
Got to go back to the store to get it checked. Not sure if warranty is still active.
