You don't HAVE too.
You NEVER have too.
But having a place (designated by the players or the build) is good for game-play.
It helps with identifying n stuff, and finding the mafia and head counts.
the best hosts of mafia madness also pretty much (no not a coincidence) never put other body piles

the best quality mm servers also support satanic corpse hexagon resurrection rituals

I played on one server with that.
The bodies started chucking other bodies off
It was startling for me, never seen that before.

Kind of off topic here, but how can I enable an Addon while the MM gamemode is running. I tried executing item_sports and then setting mod paths with no success. This method usually works on my custom gamemode server, but not when Mafia Madness is running.

I visited TomTom's MM only t be kicked and greeted by a kick message asking me to visit his stuffty website and read the rules there even though the server has a /rules feature, and I know the rules by heart, I really shouldn't have to go to some crappy website to re-lean rules I already know to get into a server.

add the name of the .zip file to gamemode.txt

it's made this way by design, to refresh your memory of the rules and so that you can't use the excuse "I forgot/didn't read the rules"; not to mention the /rules command is a clusterforget due to it being in the chatbox

unfortunately people -still- don't read the rules, they just keep scrolling until they can play

I don't like it when a build forces you to sort the bodies. Sometimes the mafia members want them to be disorganized so players get confused. Having body piles also disallows mafia to put a body near a stair case so they can later snatch it and run down the stairs quickly to be unnoticed. It's also extremely easy to spot when a body is missing.

If the remaining players don't want to sort the bodies, that's their decision, they shouldn't be forced by the build in my opinion.

Hate the method all you want, since implementing it the quality of gameplay has improved and the number of random kills has diminished. It is only a one time thing, once you have read these rules you don't have to go on the website again to join.

If you want to do it some other way nobody is stopping you from hosting your own server. If not i will happily take a suggestion if you have a better way to prevent somebody from not bothering to read the rules and going on a kill spree. The 'effort' involved also puts off a large amount of players just interested in mass dming.

You could always just ask the player to read the rules. If they don't read the rules, ban them for 5-30 minutes. It's as easy as that.

This does get tedious after awhile, unless you're like me and have fun administrating MM.
