Author Topic: Gen. Hothauser --- Is dis brother serious?  (Read 2369 times)

In the modification discussion section, a new user posted a topic showing a few bricks he had recently created. His next few posts contained a few minor gramaitcal errors, which someone was quick to point out. Gen. Hothauser quickly started defening the OP, which was nice of him; but only to a certain point.
Off-Topic: I get upset when people tell others to type proper grammar.  It is the writer's right to how they should spell, and if they have an excuse, such as being foreign in MKD's case, or deaf like Furling, then we really shouldn't poopoo them for not typing as well as you.  The only people that should be scolded, purely because of laziness, are the people that type, on the forums, in "text type"(2 instead of to, R instead of are, N instead of and), which is used only for quick, instant messaging, such as is texting, NOT in places like the forums where time can be spent ensuring no typos or lack of effort.

On-Topic: I still fail to see how he could have added more detail and still have retained the blocko appeal.  He could have added threading around the base of the bulb, but that would be too much detail; he could have put the wattage and volt limit on the end of the bulb, but that is unnecessary.  The only thing that would be nice is scripting it in a way where only the bulb would change colorFX, instead of the entire brick.
Hey, hey starfish, why the forget does it matter.  He made light bulbs, he didn't write a thesis on the evolution of iguanas - grammar isn't necessary here, and you can fully understand everything he is saying.
To the "grammar isn't necessar here" part, I replied:
People still expect posts here to conform to a certain basic standard. This isn't one big facebook conversation.

This then started a rant consisting of multiple posts about how we're all too white and I watch too much nascar:
Expect nothing.  This forum is a pretty good simulation of the real world.  We don't live in a world where everyone is white, has a perfect American East Coast accent, has never had an injury, has no disabilities or diseases, is of the same age, or thinks the same way.  We are in a culturally diverse, multi-personalitied world where you might not be able to understand something at a first glance, but after studying or listening to that something, the issue would then elucidate itself - do this enough, and you can understand anyone at first glance or holler.
Are you daft?  I was offering a finalizing to an argument that was futile for you richards.  Get used to dealing with people you can't understand, it will only get worse in life, unless you live in the middle of the US or Canada, where everyone is white and speaks the same dialect.
Oh that's too bad.  Well, when you are done watching Nascar, and finished off your last sixpack, go to a school not infested with your incest-ridden classmates and gain some multicultural, multiethnic, multilingual tolerance.

Honestly Hothauser's probably a cool guy, but this was just too funny to read.

I haven't liked Gen. Hothauser for a number of small reasons, but he really is a richard. Support this.

more like spelling errors. there are so many of them.

But the foreigners here are "speaking" (taken loosely because this is typed, not said) very well.  They are typing in English, with our QWERTY keyboard, in possibly a different sentence structure than us, and are still completely understandable.  That is a lot of translation from their original language to English, and they are doing a damn good job of it.  If you think it is hard for yourself to understand what they are saying, switch it around, and image how it would be for them to understand you.  They are almost always able to understand, other than those few times when they ask for the meaning of a word.

If you need help understanding someone, just look at the nouns, then verbs.

Oh god. Wow lol.  I didn't think you took any of that seriously, god damn.

Master is my good buddy in blockland.  I've taught him a lot of stuff, from building to eventing to running his server.  I don't like it when people stuff on him because he has issues typing.  I'm sorry if my display of over-zealous fury caused you any dislike to my character, it is just a reflex of protection for me.

That and I love a good argument, filled with lots of deep philosophical and scientific reasoning.  Those don't happen much, I'm realizing now. :(

I felt from the begining that you might have a 'personal' connection somehow. You know, considering the passionate rants out of almost loving nowhere lol

Yup.  I've done this in the past, Master's grammar attracts a lot of negative comments.

Is this because I explained to you why your tee shirts wouldn't work well?

No not really lol.

No not really lol.

Well, that is the first time I've seen you, so where lies the issue?

I think this thread is getting...

Dramatical.
