I don't shave my pubic hair or star fish hair. Maybe trim once in a while with pubic but I don't really touch it, I just let it be. Girls like hair. I've heard girls calling pubic shavers a bunch of friends.

buy a "personal groomer" aka electric razor and cut it back

don't shave it all off so you look like a 12 year old, but cut it back so you look civilized

i go 1/2".  also since you have a personal groomer shorten your armpit hair if it's nasty

I use an electric razor to trim first and then my gillette fusion razor to finish the job. Most of the time I just trim with a the electric razor though. When I do shave, I always rub myself down with rubbing alcohol afterwords to sanitize any cuts that occurred.

To be frank a quality safety razor is fine. Just be extremely careful and brisk, like a lint roller on a shirt.

i use a trimmer and keep it very low but not so cut that you could feel stubble from it.
shaving smooth is a horrible idea.

Do everything you can to prevent razor burn before shaving down there, trust me you don't want that stuff.  And before you take a razor to it, take a comb and a pair of scissors, just comb some back and trim it down before doing so.  I recommend you do it in the shower also, to make it easier to clean up.  Bring the shaving cream with you for sure, and apply post-shave balm.
