Author Topic: Medieval RPG  (Read 4531 times)

Hi everyone. I started a topic some times ago about the making of a city rpg. Finally, i didnt want to start on it because you see, city rps annoy me. I now want to make a medieval rpg, and i would like to get the community opinions and ideas, because, a good mod is mostly made with ideas people like and suggest.

You can give here all yours ideas of the perfect medieval mod you would like to see, ask for bricks models you would like to use, classes, fights, quests and others stuff i didnt think to. Thanks you - i just don't know if i can do weapons but, its not the point for the moment.

/discuss.

yeah! burn in hell cities

is this the type of rpg people build in? also, is it going to be a story based thing or just run around raping and pillaging?

I have no loving ideas lol, help me you!

It may be a rpg where people build it or just get pre made houses, but idk yet, i just know i want quality.

so you are building a map to go with it?

i think we need a substitute for drpg. the kind of rpg that promotes people working together and battling others in groups.
of course, to have people build their own stuff, that means public bricks, and that means you cant ever reset the server cause then the ownership gets messed up. someone would have to break public bricks so it doesnt matter what baseplate its on, its always their bricks.
an of course, a new mod.
also, if you want people building their own stuff, its probably best made with modter since you can build inside of it and stuff.

drpg was good in the beginning days until the mod got out and it was hosted so frequently that i couldnt decide which one to join. i think thats the reason the mod was meant to be private, not for greed. so if a mod is made for a medieval rpg like this, its best kept private or else it will loose its own pzazz.

for sure ill do!

@pass: i wont use modter cause i want someting detailed. For builds and ownerships its not a problem, if their builds are separated and reach grounds plates like city rps. Yeah the idea of people working together may be great!

i think set buildings would be nice, and then have a few people that you know could build well be contracted out by players to make things such as castles. i dont trust many people on blockland to make anything of quality... =(

this.

As you may already know, I love Medieval RPGs. You should make it so that the players work together to solve quests. The map should be large with many different sections to it, such as villages, maybe a winter-like area, farms, lakes, etc. Something like Eole Island except much bigger and medieval-themed.

The mod should be realistic, meaning that to stay alive, you would have to harvest and find food and water. There should also be animals in forest-like areas that can attack the players. Players should be able to form groups that to join, you would have to, for instance, kill 5 animals or find food for everyone that night.
Lanterns should be placed in appropriate areas; it's always bad when you cannot see where you're going because nighttime in the Day/Night cycle is so dark.

As Monkeyboy suggested, there should be castles that could possibly be bought from a group for a certain amount of money/other items. It would be nice if there was a trading system also. Large groups could split up into pairs and do quests together to bring back items for the group (If you decided that if a player completed a quest, they would be awarded money or items.)

If possible, there could also be a clothing system so that you start out in regular clothing and can progress to get armor, etc.

Also, with the map, I am hoping it can be similar to this style:

There are tundras, canyons, mountains, bridges, villages, settlements, lakes, etc.

I would LOVE to help with the project, as I know that with you in control, it can possibly be the best medieval RPG in Blockland.

If you need any more ideas, I'm full of them.

Oho Syl. Always something new goin on. This would surely function as a good Cohort project so everyone gets involved. (which isn't the case with previous projects)

Making it teambased is a great idea but it also shouldn't stop people from successfully action solo. I have this idea that you can group up with friends and maybe buy a fort OR go ranger-style and obtain a little hut in the dense woods. You should not let people make their own homes and such as I think it could (and probably would) downgrade the server quality-wise. We would also have to take time to survey every new build that was made, so that idea won't happen. If the servers admin crew could be fully in control of every sort of lair/home/castle purchasing and building that would be optimal.

I'll check in here later when I've gathered my thoughts.

Evan please do brainstorm. :)

Ideas on skills/cool things to include

Blacksmithing
Fishing
Mining
Advanced Chat (multiple options of what you can say to somebody)
Alchemy/Creating Potions
Basic Farming
Cooking

i want to see one without levels and see how it goes. more focused on just exploring and interacting with other players. have like, good ores be rare spawns and have rare fish sometimes appear.

I think skill leveling is gay. Play runescape if anyone want these things.

I would like a way to improve yourself without just amassing resources.

It should not require you to stare at an ore for two hours to start the game.

You all get good ideas, i will think about them, for sure. Reading your propositions make me think you kinda would like some drpg without leveling. It's hard to put in place but it can be made yeah. You want to get the RP side more than the idea of being the best with highest skill. I think we can make someting interesting here together yes.
