It is pathetic in a way to me how people can make a living by making pointless videos of themselves. I've never understood it, but some can be entertaining, so it does pay off.

Why the forget are people making a big deal about Pewds?

He puts out content that apparently people enjoy watching.  I think he deserves that many people if he can get them to subscribe.  If the majority of people like him that's no reason to hate him and make such a big loving deal about how many subscribers he has.  People like what he does so they subscribe.  So what?  It isn't causing any type of harm to you anyway.  Just ignore him.

That is the magic of the entertainment industry.  People should have the freedom to make money however they want, as long as they aren't breaking the law.  If that's how he wants to make money so be it.
