Q. People still listen to chipmusic?
A. Yes, they do! Obviously! :3

Q. I would like to support the chipscene. How do I do that?
A. Support the artists you like! Donate! Tell them that you love them - because they love you!

Q. What's up with the chipscene and cats?
A. People with dogs go outside.

Q. Why are chipmusicians so kind?
A. The more Game Boys you have, the kinder you are. It's just how it is. Seriously.

Q. I want to add to one of the sections on this post. How do I do that?
A. Post in the thread or send me a PM. I'd be happy to add whatever you want me to!

Q. Where can I learn more about the chipscene?

WHAT IS THE DEMOSCENE?

Starting around the early 1980s/late 1970s, computer programmers, musicians, and artists created limit-pushing graphical displays called 'Demos', made on all platforms and computers. Many demos had music, and much of that music was chiptune. Demoscene chiptune is often less straight-forward chiptune (NES), much having more advanced waveforms (such as Arkanoid's theme) or bitcrushed samples (such as To Be on Top's theme). Filetypes of the demoscene include .mod (basic protracker module, first kind created), .xm (fasttracker 2.0, more functions, more channels, 16-bit samples), .s3m (screamtracker, a good balance between .mod and .xm), .it (.it is to .mod what a blackbird is to a biplane), and .sid (commodore 64 SoundInterfaceDevice chip).

(There is a substantial lack of artists because not many of them have websites that are still up or still produce chiptune. Sorry. :C)
(If anybody else out there knows some currently active chiptune producers feel free to suggest them.)

(Pretty much necessary if you want to listen to anything from modarchive or keygenmusic where the gold is.)

Wow, really?
I'll have to fire our marketing manager.

> Not including Zabutom

This isn't a true Chiptune thread.

I'll have to fire our marketing manager.

Man you have no idea how many times I've told Urself to just chill out. He just doesn't listen!

That was the last straw. Mr. Den is no longer working on this project. We apologize for the inconvenience :(

Is this considered Chipmusic?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MOFAz243ZQs

Finally, a chiptunes thread! A lot of great artists you got up there

My favorite artists (no particular order)

The list goes on... I know I've got lots more on my iPod, I would consider myself a "collector" of sorts.

beter not hapen agen

tomorrow afternoon i'll try to remind myself to post a few really really good tunes i picked up around soundcloud

after your (end's) megapost of chiptunes in that previous thread (that megapost exists as a part of this OP now for those of you who didn't see it), i was inspired to scrounge every corner of the internet for as many chiptunes as possible. i've been playing video games, talking to friends, posting on this forum, eating, breathing, whatever, all while listening to this stuff for the past three weeks.

holy stuff when i type it out i realize how crazy i am

Finally, some Zabutom. I loved Zeta Force; it reminds me of those old space shooters.

I like the J Arthur keenes band
Not really 100% chiptune but it counts right?

Hopefully the link works

Also Bossfight
