Summarizing something I read cause I can't find it online.
There was a boy who was on his school's football team. He didn't try that hard and didn't really seem to care whether he won or lost. The coach soon got a letter saying that the boy's father just died. He approaches the boy in the locker room and says, "Hey I'm really sorry about your father, how about you go home for a couple of weeks?" The boy nods and leaves. On Friday, the coach finds the boy back in the locker room getting his padding on.
Coach: "Hey I thought I said you could go home?"
Boy: "Coach, you have to put me in."
Coach: "But you know I have never put you in any of the games."
The boy has determined tears in his eyes and says, "You are going to put me in this game and you won't be sorry."
The coach finally consents and puts the boy out in the middle of 1st quarter. He tore up the field, was aggressive, and practically won the game all by himself.
Coach: "That was great! What happened out there?!"
Boy has happy tears now. He says "Coach, you never knew my dad did you? Well he was blind, and today was the first day that he saw me play."
