Author Topic: Mom being forced into juror duty  (Read 1638 times)

She got a letter in the mail a few days ago saying that she will HAVE to become a juror and if she doesn't accept it shes going to jail, WHAT THE forget? do any of you think this right? cause she doesn't even want to do it

Sorry if it seems like a sloppy topic :c

can we have an exact quote on whats on the letter or what

but for edgy people
have your mom hide from the law
or make up a scenario where she HAS to stay home

Dad has to do the same.
It's the law.

uh
this is america
this happens all the time

it's been like this since forever dude

um... yes.  this is part of american life.  if you are summoned to act as a juror, you have to unless you don't fit whatever specific bias checks for the case (i think).  haven't had any experience with jury duty yet at 17.

It's a civil duty to be a juror. Once you turn 18 (?) you are eligible for selection and must serve on a jury when needed. It's part of what keeps our court system running smoothly.

Like srs this has been around for a long time.

You can easily get out of this by just blatantly lying. Depending on the case you could say you don't believe in death sentence, or some fake religious bullstuff etc.

This is how the law works, and it's been like this for a very very long time. It's still easy to get out of though, just make up something that makes you seem biased.

well thats wyat she gets for registering to vote.
if you wanna be a citizen you gotta do the whole part.

Don't you also get signed up if you have a 'civil' job? Like being a teacher or a doctor or something.
I ask because I know my parents don't have to do any of this stuff in the UK since they don't have 'civil' jobs.
