actually what would be really cool was if the building system was constrained to the point that you could only place _entire groups_ of prefabricated items (like duplications) so in order to create a house you'd need to buy- and thus find someone who sells- the specific kinds of blocks you want so you can build the thing you're trying to build, and those different prefabs have to be made of specific kinds of material.

Right now I probally won't implement prefabs for building in general because people should still have free creativity over what they want to have their house/store to be designed like, but I'm planning to have a prefab system for factory production.  These factories will be able to produce more than just guns.  I'll take up your idea and limit how guns can be produced so easily.

How I'm planning for the prefab system to work for factories is to have multiple sections of a conveyor belt/machinery be put together to form a whole production line -- Starting with where the materials get dropped in, and ending where they come out finished products.  You can insert "upgrades", so to speak, into the assembly line to change how the materials get processed or otherwise.  Here's a quick production line layout for refining metals:

Raw material drop-off station --> machine to separate rock from metals --> smelter --> mold station --> loading dock

So, you are saying you lied in the OP? It says EVERYTHING is done except for GUIs.

no just parts of it aren't even on the list yet.

Database structure is just saving/loading
Core structure is probably just a tick system with execution and var declaration

I'd imagine he'd be building each individual part off of the core system

Right now i just see a lot of ideas and no development progress.

That's all/is going to be.
An idea, hell I don't even see this getting finished within the year.
No, not a year a month it shouldn't take that long.

Sorry guys for the last couple of days of little to no development progress.  The 1st day of school got me bogged down and I had to re-adjust.  But, that's all over now, so it's time to make some progress. =)

The Progress List is just of what i've done so far.  If I started progress on a part of the mod, that progress is shown of that item.

Currently the Database structure consists of a saving & loading system for Businesses/Gangs, Players, and the City.
What I call the Core Structure is a tick/day system, client-server interaction, the glue to piece everything together, and the base functions that make the game tick.

Is it going to be public or private? as in Released or kept for yourself?

It'll be Private for now, but things can always change.

Not with you guys' attitude he won't, lol.

I'm really looking forward to this.

I have a suggestion. Here it is and it goes along with bushidos thing. I don't know if he said this or not, I didn't read the whole thing.

So the City starts off with a certain amount of money. When people get their paychecks it comes from that fund (or some other fund). When people are paid it subtracts from the City's money. When people pay taxes however that is going to work, it goes to the city. Taxes on lots, food, items, vehicles, etc. Whatever doesn't go to said store owner like an extra item tax goes to the city. When people purchase lots or vehicles it goes to the city. You get the point. Basically it would make this thing a whole lot better if all the money circulated. You would also need a way from preventing 1 person obtaining all the money. If you made them actually have to do their job to earn money, it would help that.

Just a thought. Hopefully that makes sense.

I have a suggestion regarding the crime system.
Why not just get rid of the demerits system and replace it with judicial system?
A person caught will be held in custody until he has a proper court (if he desires it), and when the court happens, there will be prosecution, defense, witnessess and evidence.
Think of the average court as a game of Phoenix Wright.
Judge decides the final sentence, should the defendant be declared guilty and sentenced to something, or should he be declared not guilty and let him go?
Ofcourse, you'll have to write some sort of in-game lawbook so judge, police and lawyers can read up on it. It should document all the crimes and what's the sentence for said crimes. I can write such a thing for you if you want me to.

Because everyone wants to spend 3 hours in a virtual lego court room...

I already have this implemented <3, but thanks anyway for the suggestion.

I have an idea of how corrupt and messy that would be if made...
Sorry to say but I just don't see blocklanders behaving in such a situation for a long period of time, and be fair about the sentence/ruling of the convict.

Also there would most likely be more crimes happening than the court could handle.
Sorry, but thanks for the suggestion

there's only so many cases you can program into the mod and eventually any 'lawyers' would just catch onto the case and steamroll anyone who doesn't already know them

and juries are probably the EASIEST forgetin thing to rig on blockland. seriously.
