make fall distance mod that kills if you fall more then a jump on flat surface.

and then only let gaurds have a modified broom that looks like a night stick or something.

so the only real weapon is they can fling you around, (its deadly) but it can only happen if you are near them. so they can move people by herding around. or inmates can have fun trying to manuever around them.

Some idiot voteskipped me for revenge one time. It passed.

I forgot the name of the person who hosted this Jail Escape but it had it's own personal mod and items, and there was this prisoner who was basically the Tank from the L4D mod Rotondo made and he would help break down the wall to escape the prison. It even had CCTV so the guards could see where the prisoners where and you had to go outside and take down the satellite. Loved that server.

This is a yes for sure. I always hated random stupid unfitting weapons and ammo boxes or whatever.

Yes guards get a taser, which is not harmful but makes the target tumble and a baton. The fall distance is a nice idea.

Not to brag, but reading this thread I see lots of this stuff is incorporated into my jail (well, or not, depending on if it's bad or not). The main problem I suspect here is that all this stuff makes the game extremely slow-paced. If you have to make an effort to get a weapon as a prisoner, it will naturally take longer. As a result, newly joined players will most likely have te wait quite a while for the next round to start, which results into them disconnecting and thus lowering the server in the playercount list.

same thing thats wrong with every rp and dm.

way way to many mods. you should pick out like 4 or 5 guns and a special item that all balance well. dont try to spam the game with 50 similar crap like everyone else.

or you can come up with a new idea. jail rps have been done to death.

I am agreeing with this, there are too many weapon choices in many servers. TDM's and DM's should be fair, and one weapon shouldn't be OP'ing the others.

The jail RP system is loving stupid

If you want to kill someone, he has to show you that they have a gun or attack you automatically giving the prisoners an advantage. They always create drama and fights between morons who don't realize there's a plenty of better servers they could be playing on. Also whats up with calling them "Jail RP's"? They are loving TDm's, not RP's.

I remember playing on one a long time ago, though I forgot the name of it. Unlike most jailbreaks, after you open the gate from the jail the path to escaping was very long. There were multiple gates you had to open, and it pretty much made prisoners and guards work together.

Just invade anyone would know what this one was, it had a sign near the gate that said "(host's) jail, only (number) escapes so far.", and had a winter theme.

what someone should do is instead of short little matches with guns in the toilet, have really long rounds
that are actually like rp's.

stuff where you slowly whittle a ruler into a knife
build bombs out of playing cards
make a makeshift "doppelganger" to make it look like you're sleeping
chip away at your cell wall
make a disguise to look like a guard
make a makeshift key
the possibilities are just endless

you'd pretend to be eating crap
rapemod
having gangs
solitary confinement

but don't make it boring,
since rp's are generally "what the hell do i do?" kind of things

now, it's either THAT,
or something like ploads, where it's more like a sniper tdm with a jail escape theme.
the benefits of THAT is that there's no freekilling and rdming
thats a major plus

jail rps should not be RP's. they should be a modified sort of TDM where one team (Guards) has guns and needs to protect certain areas, but cannot move out of their defending spots, and the second team (prisoners) need to work together to break open an escape route, but cannot kill the guards (or its very difficult to, as taken with pload's system where you'd have to break the pillars to kill the tower).

doing so removes the possibility that anyone will "RDM" or anything of that sort. Pload's jail escape was successful because it simplified the gameplay into the concept "Escape" rather than "RP". Guards shot prisoners on sight, and there really were no rules to break other than exploiting faults in the build.

RP'ing in a jail is fine, but if you want to make it an escape, make it an escape, not an RP/escape mix.

I had an idea for a jail escape where the guards lose if all the prisoners die. They're supposed to stop prisoners from escaping in non-lethal ways, like setting up traps or roadblocks, and they only win if time runs out and there are living prisoners still locked up. I mean, in a real jail, you'd be in some serious trouble if you murdered every single prisoner.

Maybe if you had a really huge map, and guards could close off particular sections to slow prisoners down. You could block off one hall and then prisoners would have to dig through a wall (slowly) to get around it, or find another path to take. Actual physical encounters between guards and prisoners would be rare, and guards would only kill prisoners as an absolute last resort. This would eliminate any freekilling business, since all you'd be doing by killing random prisoners is making your team lose.

You'd have to disable ctrl-k for prisoners to keep them from insta-winning by killing themselves, and be really strict about AFKs so guards don't just kill all prisoners except for an afk person and wait for time to run out.

I haven't been able to put an idea like this into action to see if it actually works but I think it's a step away from the traditional jail game.
