Author Topic: What's with the low-res?  (Read 2957 times)

Well, this is now RETAIL Blockland, version 8, and i'm still seeing the same Low-Resolution textures and maps i always used to see. What's with this? I'm wondering if it's a TGE limitation, or... What?

many games don't want to give you options to use high or low, its a lot more work.
have to assume everyone has real low end computers to make bestest money in a market of gamers.

someday when the average computer can handle 4096x4096 textures on games. they will still only be made for 1024x1024

1024x1280
Somone (FakeFactory? :D ) Should make a High-Res mod.

how do you alter up textures? is there any special photoshop tricks?

or basically you need the original file to format, or redrawn?

I did something similiar to that on RTB; replaced clientside textures. I could do it again, perhaps, but it would take some time to find out what looks best. Its not really a high res mod, but it looks better.

Just replace the old file, but Badspot doesn't like that stuff being released. I changed my brick textures to 64x64 and they look low-res but not much different at all.

The thing is, some textures can't be altered to be a higher resolution, such as the Skybox.

I changed all the bedroom textures to 10242, but if i go higher it crashes. Doesn't really look different.

well from there im sure.

high res textures look good up close, as a little blocko guy sometimes would.

It looks better, get a closer shot.

They look crappy up close, but i'll get a closer pic :cookieMonster:

I wish i could have Blockland HD.
