Author Topic: Unstable Sound In-Game  (Read 1009 times)

I made a post about this a LONG time ago, but I really didn't find a solution. I have a Windows 7 that is beyond the necessary requirements. While I'm in-game, the sounds, and how far the sounds are supposed to be heard are messed up. For example, upon playing the Alarm emote, the sound is excruciatingly loud and amplified-sounding, but when you move just a little bit from where you played the emote and it's still in the midst of playing the alarm sound, you can't hear it, and this is just moving a puny bit from where you played the emote. This happens with a lot of other sounds too, where you move a little bit and can no longer hear it. I literally have to play it with the sound way down because of the sound. Please help?

This is a problem due to the game's engine being old, I don't believe there is a fix.

So I'm not the only one suffering from it? And if so, can the creators not update it?

Torque's audio engine doesn't like mono nor stereo speakers.

I don't think the bug affects OS X.

Does that include Surround sound speakers? This bug also happens to me even when I wear headphones. And where can I find this OS X if it's applicable to my computer?

Yes, yes, call me an idiot all you want. I don't know nearly anything about Macs ok? I'm a PC user. Just tell me if there's anything I can do about this other than muting my game.

Make sure that your audio drivers are up to date.

My drivers are up to date and functioning. Does the game not like Realtek? That's the type of audio driver I have.

I have Realtek as well.

I have surround sound speakers, but I'll go ahead and set it to 2 and see if it works. It probably won't. This happened to me while I didn't have surround sound speakers and it was set to 2. Hell, it even happens when I wear headphones, and it's not pleasant.

The bug doesn't occur on a 5.1 surround sound speaker system. (tested on a SoundBlaster Audigy 2).
