Author Topic: I start college tomorrow!  (Read 4981 times)

I have nothing against partying, but most college parties tend to involve and consist of only drugs, booze, and love. It's just a way to get into trouble. I think that studying is a priority, you shouldn't overdo it though. It still is a #1 priority as a student honestly.
Devildoge wasn't saying to make partying your priority, but to not go at all leads to regret in the future.

Also, I don't know what you imagine college parties to be like, but it's not a gigantic orgy where everyone shoots each other up with heroin. You could probably get through a party without even drinking a cup of beer easily. You can just go for the social interaction.

Social interaction could be anywhere else though, like at a music event. There isn't much social interaction at college parties when half of the party-goers are drunk.

Do you think drunk people just sit around and stare at walls, Caribou? Youve clearly never been drunk then. Youre like 50x more social.

Im assuming most of the people complaining about how partying is bad have never been invited to one.

have you ever watched american pie caribou??
thought so...

Partying and other social activities are the most important part of university. A 3.0 GPA and large social network will often get you further than a 4.0 you got by only studying all day.

Going into College, or as some of you may say, "University," on Monday.

Hyped.

I always thought a university was a collection of colleges? Like a college of business, college of the arts, etc could all be part of Colten University and if its just a school for business itd be a college?

It depends. You're sort of right, in general that's a good rule of thumb but the two words are virtually interchangeable, you can say "I go to college at University of California, Los Angeles" or you can say "I attend university at UCLA." Pretty sure it's a British/American English kind of thing, though. People outside of the US tend to call it university, where as Americans tend to call it college.

I thought University meant it had a grad program, at least in the US.

university in the american-english sense is just a parent term for a collection of colleges, college of art, business, etc., while university in the uk is typically meant to be just one college.

Ok the reason i said i didnt expect to get this far is because college has always seemed so far away, just fyi. Anyway my first week is finished and it was awesome. I have met so many people and my floor is just awesome. I have this like amazing view from the 14th floor of my dorm building too. One of our ra's is hot and just about everywhere you look its girls girls girls. I have probably talked to more women in this week than in like a year on my own lmao. Its crazy. Classes seem pretty cool so far, nothing to intimidating. cept my bio class having like 400+ people. Anyway im having the time of my life. Id rather not party too much btw since cops are like everywhere and they keep busting up frat parties. besides, a lot of frat guys are douchebags.

Don't die, don't get your computer stolen, get don't grades, good drugs do, etc etc.

Well duh. Frat parties are like the stufftiest tier of party you're going to find.

If you're not an idiot about it you shouldn't really run into any problems while partying. I'm willing to bet like a majority of the students at your school drink and party, I doubt many of them are getting in trouble for it. But whatever you do don't think you're above the people that drink and party and what not. Those people are the worst.

Also like 90% of all college girls are smoking hot. One day on my way home from class I counted the hot girls to not hot girls and it was like 30 hot girls to 4 or so ugly ones.

lol my friend was at this party a few days ago and as everyone was leaving, like 15 cops were lined up outside waiting to stop the underage drunks. My friend had taken like 8 shots but he just walked in his best straight line and got out of there. Its crazy that he got away. And yeah devil, hot girls EVERYWHERE. its like my expectations have gotten way higher since there are so many hot girls.

Edit: btw check out "asu confessions" on twitter guys. Lots of asu party info. Apparently there were 371 arrests 3 days before school even started. Holy stuff.
