Author Topic: How is Blockland?  (Read 5474 times)

I bought this in 2008 and the biggest change I really see is people don't build anymore. It's really sad

I still see a lot of people building, but the older users haven't sticked around ever since everything became all-brick material.

im glad im still here

im a pretty old user

I first heard of Blockland via advertisements on LEGO sites back around... I think 2006 or so? But I didn't really think anything of it until I saw this video, which prompted me to find and download v0002 and RTB v1.045, as I'm a LEGO nut. I had a lot of fun with it (played with some friends from another forum), later tried the demo of the retail game, and finally bought the full version yesterday. My first impressions so far is that the game itself is pretty awesome, while the community is an incredibly mixed bag. I haven't seen a whole lot of what people have built yet, but I've been pretty impressed by what I have seen.

Like Bones4's titanic build that's been taking years and years to finish
Yeah I saw that in the Gallery. Believe it or not, I faintly remember visiting the server with him a long time ago. He was building a ship but I don't know if its the Titanic he has today but I remember it was only like the lower half finished and a few interior rooms. It was like the Titanic with the top half cut off because it wasn't finished. He was getting mad at someone for something but its hard to remember what. I don't know it may have been like a prototype or an idea but it looked pretty big.

In all honesty, if you're going to get into blockland beware a good portion of the community... I'd say if you're going to play stick to hosting your own server and just building there, TDM servers are fun some times but right now I'm tired of most of the servers being repeated and the community being so bad so I'm trying to stick to hosting my own servers and just building as much as possible. That's all just my opinion and suggestion.

Eventually when I get a more 'stable' computer, I will most likely be hosting build servers and stuff. I am also looking to learn events again because I used to love them.
