Description (Wikipedia):Cluedo, or Clue in North America, is a popular murder-mystery themed deduction board game originally published by Waddingtons in Leeds, England in 1949. It was devised by Anthony E. Pratt, a solicitor's clerk and children's entertainer from Birmingham, England. It is now published by the United States game and toy company Hasbro, which acquired its U.S. publisher Parker Brothers, and Waddingtons.
The object of the game is for players to strategically move around the game board (representing the rooms of a mansion), in the guise of one of the game's six characters, collecting clues from which to deduce which suspect murdered the game's perpetual victim, Dr. Black (Mr. Boddy in North American versions), and with which weapon and in what room.
Rules:Mr. Black has been killed at his own mansion by one of his party guests. There are 6 characters to play as:
Miss Scarlet,
Colonel Mustard,
Ms. White,
Reverend Green,
Mrs. Pearooster, and
Professor Plum, as well as 6 weapons: the rope, the gun, the wrench, the pipe, the knife, and the candlestick; and 9 rooms, of which you can see on the board. Each player starts on their respective space, and play order goes in the order they are listed. Before the game actually starts, 3 cards are passed out to each player, which may have a room, a weapon, or a person on it. Cards are proof that their thing was not involved in the murder, and 1 of each type is removed from the deck (traditionally) and those 3 cards are what actually happened, and are not passed out to players. In this case, I will keep the contents of these cards secret. When it is your turn, you roll the dice (
random.org) and move that many spaces - remember to specify how many vertical and how many horizontal. When you enter a room, you can make a suggestion
only using that particular room, which consists of the suspect, the murder weapon, and where it took place. The claimed weapon is then moved into that room. Then, if the next player has any of the cards you mentioned, they have to PM you one of those cards and then make a post here that they have done so, but not write which card it was. If they do not own any of the mentioned cards, they will say that they don't, and then the next player does the PM or post if possible, until either someone has a card or the rotation goes back to the suggester. You may create a suggestion using one of your cards to throw others off, and do not have to say so. This repeats until one person has narrowed down the murder, and will PM me their accusation (which may be done so anywhere on the board), and I will PM back whether they are right or wrong. If you are wrong, you are out of the game and must post here, telling others of your failure. If you are out, you still have to respond to PM's, though, and if everybody is handicapped and fails the accusation, the game restarts. If your accusation is correct, however, you have won the game!
