Laptop's Display Doesn't Turn On

It's an HP, and I've tried plugging it into an external monitor but the screen remains black.
Any help would be appreciated, I'll answer any further questions as best I can.

Windows 7. It started within the past week, I'm not quite sure why it's started. I don't believe the hard drive is the issue though.

I did run Memtest on it last month and the RAM was fine, but maybe it just crapped out, I can't be sure of it.

I have the same issue on an emachines laptop
The problem is that it boots up but there's no beep to say whats wrong

It runs win7 too

I'm assuming with it being a laptop and all, it's unable to be fixed?

That was a problem, but I fixed that a month ago. The drivers should be fine.

When my HP did the same thing I bought a new laptop, but I would assume someone, somewhere could fix it for you.
