I really fail to see how it's ridiculous to lose respect for someone because they lied to everyone for a year. Imagine that in a real, physical friendship. I know I wouldn't hang out with someone anymore after I found out that they were purposely lying to me for a year and pretending to be someone they are not. I think a majority of people would agree with me on that.
