Play Tutorial before Single Player. Play Single Player before joining a public game.

I also recommend getting the Return To Blockland add-on (aka RTB) for Blockland if you want to connect to your friends, download add-ons, and be able to manage your server better. If you don't know how to install add-ons, click here for a brief tutorial.
