Author Topic: Is Adblock no longer blocking Youtube ads?  (Read 4737 times)

Jesus loving Christ.

I'm tired of people saying how ads "only take 30 seconds or your time" and "just do something else while you wait"

No.

Advertising is the laziest and rudest way of making money ever.
Imagine if you will, you are walking into a store minding your own business, then two security guards and a man in a hotdog suit run out in front of you.
One of the security guards states, "you cant go into the store until the advertisement is over"
Then the man in the hotdog suit takes out a package of hotdogs and continues telling you how great his brand of hotdogs are for 3 minutes straight.
if you try to walk away the security guards push you back and say "not yet."

That's what advertising feels like to me, I'm constantly getting things i don't care about shoved in my face and its annoying.

Especially if it a movie on some sort of free site and it plays the same advertisement 6 times throughout the movie.

Why can't people just find a better way to make money that's not a pain to their customers?

yeah well it's better than spending a monthly fee to go in the store.

*cough* Costco *cough*

mofo you do not understand the incredible value that a costco membership is

starting up your pc is free
exiting your home is free
going to sleep is free
starting your car is free

if someone put ads when you tried to do all of those things, would you complain?
You bought the PC, therefor you own this product and given the producers money.
It is your home, which you bought/rent, the producers got their money.
Sleep is something they cannot monetize yet and on top of that is a natural need of humans. You can't stop someone from sleeping, they will die.
You bought the car already, you bought gas, the producers got and get their money.

Youtube is a free service and if you want them to upkeep that without having to pay one penny..
Of course there are alternatives like showing ads on the side and not IN the video, but this way is more effective (though a hell lot more annoying) and i think they can get more income that way.
Anyhow, Youtube got to keep up the servers for everything, keep improving stuff, which means they also got to pay people to work on it.
For the viewer it is practically free to use their service.
The only thing you might pay is some time on advertisements.

As for the youtube partners, they make more videos or are at least able to make more/better videos because of that income they get from youtube (ads).

Yes, advertisements are annoying like they are currently and i am sure there are other ways to advertise.
But it is a free service to all viewers and if you want them to keep that up, you gotta pay with something else then money.

HA HA EAT IT ADBLOCK USERS
Are you really making fun of Adblock Plus? That's like a cardinal sin. Adblock Plus is the Mr. Rogers/Mother Teresa of the internet.

I would gladly burn your house down if Adblock told me to.

Ok.
I just want to see one thing.
I want to see what happens when Youtube becomes paid.
a. People will pay Google for no loving reason.
b. Someone makes an actually good service, or just begins using other video sharing websites.
Also what about Wikipedia? I know they don't get the same bandwidth usage, but c'mon. There's not a single ad on that website and just every once in awhile the dev just asks for donations. I would be more fine with that than slamming crap ads that I don't even care about (or about things I even have/own/played/know about). The biggest issue with the ad system is that it doesn't know what you have/own/played/know about already, so it becomes very annoying and obsolete. If it was about a new game or something new of my interest every time, something I've never heard about. Heck, that would actually be helpful and more purposeful wouldn't it? I don't want to see an ad about World of Tanks or World of Airplanes for the 100th time while trying to look at videos of cats.

Didn't that "Blip.tv" thing force ad-block to wait 80 seconds because they used ad-block too much?

lol Shut the forget up.

Without ads, YouTube wouldn't even exist. Half the internet wouldn't exist.
