Author Topic: Internet drops while playing Blockland  (Read 641 times)

I'm not saying this is specifically a blockland problem, but when I join and spawn in a server, I get heavy lag then it just drops completely. I can tell by the light on my modem above me (The "Online" LED goes out, it's a pretty old modem, a Zoom model 5241, but it only started doing this a few days ago). I quit blockland, and after a while it goes back up. I'm using Comcast cable, not sure about anything regarding the plan. I've tried resetting it, power cycling it, everything. It is a hardwired connection to my Linksys E1000 router, then over to my modem. This doesn't happen with any other game, and has not happened before.

How did I not read that

Well, if it randomly started for no reason that it's going to be something out of your control, maybe mice are eating the cables that go crazy routes through the basement and then back up to the attick for no reason or something happens to the cable outside of your house

Should also contact your isp whether there's something going on that they know about

If you're using modern a home Internet connection, you have a cable modem somewhere on your network to give you Internet connectivity, if not, you might have a DSL modem. You're probably thinking of a 56K modem or something along those lines.

Some ISPs filter most P2P activities and instantly assume you're pirating software or using some form of torrent software. Call their support.

Ok, I'll call them tomorrow about it. I just tried CSS and I get the same lag, so I guess it isn't a blockland problem, but I can at least duplicate the problem on it. Thanks.

I have a modem MY INTERNET DROPS TO 0.36 MEGABITS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This has happened to me before too while playing Blockland. But it also happens when I'm on my iPod sometimes.

for anyone who cares, I fixed it. I checked out the other end of the coaxial cable in my basement and it was all mangled, especially the ground wires around the core wire, they weren't making a good connection with the threads on the converter, so I just straightened them back out again and put them back into the part that screws onto the converter, haven't dropped connection since.
