Author Topic: The Moorshank Incident - A brand new survival-horror experience!  (Read 5873 times)

Description
The Moorshank Incident is an upcoming survival horror adventure. It focusses on you, the protagonist, as you break down in a forest and stumble upon a military outpost in the dark. Broken and twisted in the aftermath of "the incident", the base intrigues you first to find a place to sleep for a night, and a telephone to call a breakdown service. But as your curiosity peaks, you become trapped, drawn into the place. Can you get out? Will you ever find out what happened in "the incident"?

The road ahead is dangerous. If you decide to go on, be careful.

Something's watching.

Playing "The Moorshank Incident"
The map will be hosted on my blockland server and distributed via a gamemode shortly afterwards. Note that as of now the map is very sketchy and unpolished + unfinished, so gameplay sessions will usually involve group testing a certain section of it until such time as it is. We hope this doesn't ruin the experience for you. (We can't give any sort of ETA on when it will be finished, and at certain times the server will just be work in progress, or even closed. Please do not pester us if this is the case - gameplay sessions are held when they are held)

Also note that The Moorshank Incident is a map that thrives with two or more players but is RUINED by more than 5. Thus, a player limit of 5 has been enacted. This may be lifted or lowered at times when there is high traffic but the base number IS 5. Players who haven't played will be prioritized over players who beat the map.

Construction of "The Moorshank Incident"
While there is no gameplay session going on, and the build is in construction:
- Do not ask stupid questions.
- Do not ask to assist. (I will ask if I need help)
- Do not yell about how bored you are. (Just leave)
- Do not make terrible suggestions.
- Do not start a Mini-Game.
- Do not build.
- Do not randomly shoot weapons at the builders or build.

All of these things have been done by fools on our server in the past. If you want to do this too, you will join them under the banhammer.

Foes/Monsters
Despite the growing popularity of a certain mod I have published in the past, this server will use new monster AI scripted by me and possibly Swollow, as well as some other people who have expressed willingness to contribute.

Let me reiterate: We will NOT be using rendermen. We will be using many other types of creature which we will manufacture along the way.

Server
We are using a high-end RTB Hosting server. Keep in mind that these are DDoSed occasionally because some people are butthurt crybabies with no lives, and this is no fault of me, Ephialtes, or anyone else. The server is equipped with a 15-minute-autosaver so this will not result in significant loss.

Credits
People who help with the build will be credited upon it's completion.

This is good as a single player or 2-3 player coop (if you aren't playing with handicaps that works) but anything more will end in chaos.

I thought it said "moonshark" incident :/

Other than that it looks pretty cool.

I would need to jump on my all-too-familiar obviousmobile, but, sound design would play a surprisingly large role in stuff like this. I don't need studies to prove that.

I could help in that department if you need some.

Quality build here. 8/10

We are now being DDoSed.

True popularity!

"possibly Swollow and I"

Quality build here. 8/10
if syl says "8/10" he means "truly amazing"

This is going well so far.

We just started on the second map sector. It's a decrepit, dark area where you need to throw glowsticks to see. Also, you hear odd sounds in darkness.

Sorry for not being active on BL latley, coming

Mm use them big words chris

generator room is done and control panel works

generator uses trains to make generator sound and powers lights in dark area
