Author Topic: Just to clear somethings up about steam greenlight...  (Read 3763 times)

There have been a couple posts on the forums an arguments in-game, so I have decided to clear this up:
Steam is an ADDITIONAL WAY to PURCHASE the game.

Due to this influx of new questions, I have compiled a list of Q's and A's about the subject:

Q: What about the steam overlay? RTB?

A: Blockland will NOT have the steam overlay. As I said before, steam will be an ADDITIONAL way to PURCHASE the game, not steam will be in the game.

Q: Steam workshop.

A: No, there will not be steam workshop unless Badspot decides to implement it, which I doubt he will.

Q: Do I get to keep my old ID? Do I have to buy the game again? Games > Activate Product?

A: No, none of this will happen. You will not have to buy the game and you will keep your old ID. The activation procedure for the game will STAY THE SAME as it always was.

Q: Is there ANYTHING different about the steam version than the old version?

A: Nope. In fact, there IS no steam version. Buying the game from steam will download the regular version.

I hope that this cleared everything up for new users and for confused users.

Uh, yeah it will.
All steam games do.

It's funny because most of this is in the FAQs on Blockland's greenlight page, but so many people haven't bothered to look there. Thanks for posting this.

EDIT: Why are people so argumentive about RTB and the Steam overlay conflicting? You can keybind the RTB overlay to something other than shift+tab.

have you played a greenlit game yet and see if it had the overlay

have you played a greenlit game yet and see if it had the overlay
Greenlit games are no different than published ones.
The only reason Blockland wouldn't have an overlay is if Badspot forced there not to be, which is pointless.

No, the Blockland version on steam will be NO DIFFERENT than the version already out.
Blockland does not and will not have steam overlay support.

Sorry for double post, it is the people arguing about it when in fact there will be no overlay at all.

steam overlay is kinda supported in blockland

if you run a game as a non-steam game the overlay works fine

But steam will not launch Blockland, steam will just download Blockland and will not use the overlay.

how about we all shut up and just wait and see if blockland will get an overlay or not

this argument will just continue forever until blockland is published

But steam will not launch Blockland, steam will just download Blockland and will not use the overlay.
yes i know

im just saying that the steam overlay works with blockland

Of course it will launch the game. Just because you don't need to use steam to get the game doesn't mean steam will have 0 features.

wtf ive played Blockland and used the steam overlay. works just fine.
