Author Topic: playstation 3 problems  (Read 854 times)

so yes obviously coming here isn't a great solution if i'm having a problem with a playstation but you guys are more likely to give me an answer faster and if nothing here works ill register on a different forum.

i have a playstation 3 and two controllers, one which came with the thing and one i bought a week later, both connected fine and immediately to the system.

today my friends came over (about a year after i got the ps3) and one of them brought a third, dualshock controller painted red, he says it isn't custom or anything.

what i've tried:
first
1. press ps button
failed

then
1. plug friend controller into a two-controller charger i bought for those original two controllers that connect fine
2. press ps button
failed

then
1. plug friend controller straight into ps3 with the original charging cord
2. press ps button
failed

then
1. turn off ps3
2. turn on ps3
3. plug friend controller straight into ps3 with the original charging cord
4. press ps button
failed

then
1. turn off ps3
2. plug friend controller straight into ps3 with the original charging cord
3. press reset button in back of controller (held for 10 seconds)
4. turn on ps3 (controller is still plugged in)
5. press ps button
failed

nothing is loving working, this is absolute grade a bullstuff.

How about you tell your parents it isn't working and ask them to return it?

Edit: read that your parents brought it whoops. Ignore what I said.

am I reading the OP wrong? or is it a problem with a friend's controller like I'm reading it?

it's the friend controller that isn't connecting, but two other controllers have connected absolutely fine to it. those two other controllers i purchased and they were connected to my ps3 before any other system, meanwhile the friends controller has been connected to his own ps3 at his own home and will not connect to my ps3 now that he's here

btw this is a problem i'm trying to solve within five hours, two of which have already been wasted trying to solve this problem.

loving ridiculous

i had a completely different USB-to-Mini charger for a Canon camera, and i plugged the USB end into the ps3 and the mini end into the controller
guess what
it worked
what kind of bullstuff even
