Author Topic: Blockland ID discrimination challenge  (Read 3798 times)

Change your blockland name to Blockhead51XYZ, where X Y and Z are numbers of your choice, join random servers and stay there for a while.

Post how many bans you got.

I'm not rensponsible if you get upset if you got banned from your favorite server or something.

SUCCESS!

First server, first kick.

I can't type as many dots as this requires

Also if you change your name someone else can take it away so don't

People are most likely kicking you because they see your BL_ID and notice you're a fake.

Most 40kers doesn't have the "Show BL_IDs in player list" Enabled.

But there are the bigger arseholes and their holy permaban bible.

I wouldn't risk it.

i remember getting banned from a MotE server in like early v8 for the reason

"ID 1234 = Fail"

i remember the server being called like "NO 1K's ALLOWED" but I didn't know what a 1k was then

...

That only stops people from seeing other peoples ID's, not stopping anyone else from seeing their ID.

The way I react to a Blockhead##### coming to my server, is I typically give them some special attention to make sure they know what's going on and what they're supposed to be doing.  And even if their build sucks, I let it stay, until they leave of course.

But if they don't listen when I try to help and just start doing typical noob stuff, I'm the first to admit I'm likely to kick/ban.  Never permaban though.

I like to take this sort of approach; reinforce them for things they build, no matter how good or bad it is. This will most likely make them want to build more. Some times I like to take away my own time just to help new players out with building, events, or just understanding parts of the game.

I've seen Blockhead's treated so badly some times that if I were them and I had just joined Blockland, I would probably just quit the game. I view Blockhead's as "on the fence"; meaning that they are influenced heavily when they first join Blockland, much like a first impression. They either get interested and have fun, or they get hated on and banned. I'd much rather them stay than leave.

I bet there have been thousands of people who bought the game, played for a few days, and then never touched it again simply because of their first take on the game.

-snip-
I've never encountered a blockhead that was interested in the server and had fun. They always paint spam, hammer people, or talk in all caps. (Or all of the above)

his IGN is fab I thought

my admins seem to think permanently banning random ids they come up with in their heads is absolutely loving hilarious

i de admin them when i see they've done it, i don't tolerate my admins' stuff
