Can't connect to steam?

I can't connect to steam even though my Skype and other internet related things work

its probably going down for maintenance

Been on Steam fine with no outages for 2 hours, unlikely that it's maintenance. Run basic troubleshooting, like restarting your computer.

I fixed this via reinstalling steam, I just deleted all the files in the steam folder except steamapps and steam.exe then started up steam again.

This also deletes things like screenshots in the manager. Try deleting clientregistery.blob first.

Couldn't I just uninstall steam with uninstaller?

No don't p sure it deletes all games.

It has been doing this with me on a weekly basis on and off. It's really annoying.
